The Challenge

Otakon brings together more than 45,000 attendees each year across the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the attached Marriott Marquis, and the outdoor lawn space. Nearly 40 rooms operate simultaneously, each requiring consistent AV quality and support. The programming is media-heavy, featuring manga and anime screenings in unique, old-school video and DVD formats. Organizers looked to Bright AV to refresh the main events room, which had not been updated in years, to deliver a new experience for attendees.

The Solution

Bright AV partnered with Otakon and their third-party meeting planning team to create a cohesive, high-quality AV experience across the entire event footprint.

Designed a new stage and rigging setup for the main events room

Tailored AV solutions for vintage media playback

On-site team of 35 to 40 people working closely with presenters to ensure comfort and confidence
